SUPPORTING INFORMATION
I have been a coach for over 35 years now and have always kept up to date with the relevant professional standards required to fulfil the role and have coached young players of all abilities professionally for an estimated 35,000 hours over the last 35 years. I am a reliable and professional person who is punctual and have a full attendance record that is exemplary and also possess tremendous energy. I consider one of my biggest attributes is that I am very personable and have the ability to communicate with young people / players whilst keeping control of situations in a calm and professional manner. Possessing tremendous energy, having the required Football Association and Academic qualifications along with the lifetime experience of coaching football to young people at both Academy and Grass route levels has enable me to carry out the roles required for any position in Youth Football and Coach Education. It has been my good fortune to work along side some of the top player development coaches in the country (Dario Gradi, Alex Gibson and Kenny Swain to name but a few).
Having followed a lifelong path of personal and professional development in a youth coaching capacity I took the decision in 2003 to go back to university full time and I enrolled on a Sport Psychology degree and in June 2006 I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a 2/1 Grade BSc (Hons) Degree in Sports Psychology. The reason I went back to university was because I felt that although I had coached football professionally for over 30 years, I wanted to broaden my knowledge and gain an understanding of the latest research surrounding child / player development. Being a father of 5 children myself has also allowed me to develop an understanding of how young people develop and ways in which this can be best achieved. I have been tested to provide solutions to many challenging situations. I have worked with children in a coaching/learning capacity that has allowed me to gain skills that are directly compatible with those that would be faced in various situations. I can work on my own initiative and as part of a professional team. I am capable of working to deadlines and use the time allocated to best benefit of the learner.
